Since the release of her film Animal, Triptii Dimri has become the national crush for many fans. However, it’s hard to imagine the confident actress we see today was once a shy and uncertain newcomer in Mumbai.
In a recent interview with Grazia India, Triptii opened up about her early days in the industry. “None of this would have happened without my struggles at the beginning of my acting career. When I first arrived in Mumbai, I didn’t know how to interact with people. I would lose sleep before auditions, spending all night preparing,” she shared.
Triptii explained that facing the camera with dozens of competitors filled her with a unique energy. “Every day, it was all about reading lines and taking pictures. You wake up, go for auditions, and repeat the cycle. If you’re lucky, you might get selected for one or two roles in a year. Aram Nagar became my second home. I learned a lot there and met the right people who guided me,” she added.
Building Confidence: A Gradual Journey
Triptii’s journey to confidence is a reminder that building self-assurance takes time. Arouba Kabir, an emotional and mental health professional and founder of Enso Wellness, notes that confidence is not about being free of doubt but managing those feelings effectively. Here are some steps to build confidence, inspired by Kabir’s advice:
- Identify Your Areas of Underconfidence: Recognize what makes you feel unsure. Is it your communication skills, appearance, or public speaking? Once you know, set small, achievable goals to improve.
- Develop Competence: Confidence often stems from competence. If you lack a skill, invest time in improving it through workshops, classes, or practice. Becoming more skilled will prepare you for various situations.
- Seek Constructive Feedback: Ask trusted individuals for feedback. Constructive criticism can highlight areas for improvement and help refine your approach without harming your self-esteem.
- Practice Self-Compassion: Be kind to yourself during this journey. Celebrate even small achievements. If you try something new and don’t succeed right away, remind yourself that progress, not perfection, is the goal. Shift your mindset from “I’m not good at this” to “I’m still learning, and I will improve.”
The Path to Confidence
Building confidence is a step-by-step process. It involves setting realistic goals, honing skills, seeking feedback, practicing self-compassion, and maintaining a positive outlook. By focusing on incremental progress and appreciating your efforts, you can gradually boost your confidence in any area of life.
