Director Prasanth Varma has thrilled fans by announcing the lead actor for the much-anticipated sequel to Hanu-Man (2024), titled Jai Hanuman. In a festive reveal aligned with Diwali celebrations, it has been confirmed that National Award-winning actor and filmmaker Rishab Shetty will portray the titular role in this superhero film.
Prasanth shared Rishab’s first look from Jai Hanuman, showcasing the actor kneeling in what appears to be an abandoned temple, with an idol of Lord Ram at the center. This film marks the second installment in the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU) and is produced by Mythri Movie Makers, known for producing blockbuster films like Janatha Garage (2016), Rangasthalam (2018), Pushpa: The Rise (2021), Sarkaru Vaari Paata (2022), and the upcoming Pushpa: The Rule (2024).
In a heartfelt message on social media, Prasanth expressed his excitement: “In the spirit of Diwali and the guiding light of the divine ✨ Honored to be teaming up with National Award-winning actor Rishab Shetty sir and the prestigious Mythri Movie Makers to bring our grand vision #JaiHanuman 🙏🏽. Let’s begin this Diwali with the holy chant JAI HANUMAN and resonate it across the globe 🌎🪔❤️🔥.”
Rishab Shetty, sharing his enthusiasm for the project, stated, “With the blessings of Kannada’s Lord Anjaneya, we are set to bring one of the greatest moments in Indian history to the screen. May your love, support, and blessings always be with us – Jai Hanuman. A vow from the Tretayuga, bound to be fulfilled in the Kaliyuga 🙏. We present an epic tale of loyalty, courage, and devotion ❤️🔥.” This film will also mark Rishab’s debut in Telugu cinema.
Earlier this year, actor Teja Sajja, who starred in Hanu-Man, shared insights about the sequel. He mentioned that while the film centers on Lord Hanuman, his character Hanu-Man will still play a significant role, stating, “I am not Hanuman; I am Hanu-Man. It will predominantly be Lord Hanuman’s film, but Hanu-Man might also be part of it.”
