Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while addressing a gathering in Ghatkopar East on Tuesday, criticized the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, accusing them of “dynastical politics” and misleading the people of Maharashtra. Shah, speaking at the Vijay Shankhnaad Jansabha, claimed that Uddhav Thackeray and the MVA were focused on dynastic politics, turning into an “anti-development” force in the state.
Shah Confident in Mahayuti’s Victory
The speech was part of the Mahayuti electoral campaign, aimed at supporting six candidates from the North-East Mumbai region, including Parag Shah (Ghatkopar East), Ram Kadam (Ghatkopar West), Suvarana Karanje (Vikhroli), Mihir Kotecha (Mulund West), Ashok Patil (Bhandup West), and Suresh Patil (Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar). Shah expressed confidence in the upcoming results, stating, “I can guarantee that the Mahayuti government is coming back to Maharashtra and the MVA will be wiped out.”
Criticism of MVA and Uddhav Thackeray
Shah emphasized the success of various projects under the Shinde-Fadnavis government in Mumbai, such as the Atal Setu bridge, Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail, coastal road, Samruddhi Mahamarg, Metro Rail, Dharavi redevelopment, and Navi Mumbai Airport, accusing the MVA of being incapable of delivering such initiatives. He also targeted Uddhav Thackeray for aligning with Congress, claiming that he “sat in the lap of Congress just for power” and criticizing the UBT faction for supporting the Waqf Board and proposing Muslim reservations.
National Security Concerns
Shah raised concerns about national security, accusing the Congress-led MVA of jeopardizing the safety of India for vote-bank politics. He cited incidents of terrorist infiltration from Pakistan, claiming that under the MVA, the nation had become unsafe. Shah praised the Modi government’s actions, particularly the surgical strikes, as a countermeasure to terrorism.
BJP Leaders Show Support
The event also saw speeches from Mumbai BJP President Ashish Shelar, BJP veteran Kirit Somaiya, former MP Manoj Kotak, and former cabinet minister Prakash Mehta. Shelar urged voters to treat this election as a form of “revenge” against Uddhav Thackeray for the alleged mistakes made during his tenure. He called on the public to vote for Mahayuti to fulfill the dreams of the common people.
