The Punjab and Haryana High Court has allowed Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming concert in Chandigarh, with strict noise control measures in place. The court has directed that the sound levels during the event should not exceed 75 decibels at the event’s periphery. A more detailed order is expected later.
Court’s Order
The division bench, comprising Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Anil Kshetarpal, clarified that the event could proceed as planned, provided the organizers adhere to noise pollution norms. Any violation of the 75-decibel limit would result in penal action by the authorities.
Event Details and Security Arrangements
Senior Advocate Akshay Bhan, representing the event organizers, confirmed that the concert would take place from 7 PM to 10 PM. He also assured the court that no alcohol would be served to individuals under 25. The court was informed of extensive security measures, including the deployment of 2,000 police personnel, traffic marshals, and five fire tenders to ensure the safety of attendees.
Petition and Concerns
The petition was filed by Chandigarh resident Ranjeet Singh, who expressed concerns over disturbances caused by a concert held at the same venue on December 7, featuring artist Karan Aujla. Singh raised issues about recurring events at the Sector 34 exhibition ground, which is close to Sector 32, an area known for its medical and emergency services.
Upcoming Events
The court was also informed about another upcoming concert by AP Dhillon on December 21 at the same venue. The bench noted that it would address this matter during the next hearing on December 18.
