High Attrition in Blue-Collar Jobs: Over 40% Actively Seeking New Opportunities

Job Opportunities in India

A recent report highlights a high attrition rate of 40% in the blue-collar job sector, with over 40% of surveyed employees still searching for better job opportunities.

According to the blue-collar hiring platform WorkIndia, more than 40% of participants are currently employed but continue to seek new roles. The primary motivation for job hunting is better financial compensation, with 22% of respondents listing salary improvement as their main reason.

Career growth is another key factor, cited by 20% of the respondents, while another 20% pointed to personal reasons such as relocation, completing education, or changes in family circumstances.

The findings are based on feedback from 1,100 respondents using the WorkIndia platform. The report also reveals that many experienced workers feel unfulfilled in their current positions, prompting them to explore better job opportunities.

Concerns over potential layoffs or financial instability within current employers are also pushing candidates to search for more secure roles. Better pay and superior benefits remain top priorities, with candidates focusing on companies that value work-life balance and have a positive work culture.

Notably, around 48% of candidates continue using job search apps even after securing a position, and of them, 74% are still looking for better opportunities.

These insights reflect a strong desire among blue-collar workers for jobs offering higher pay, career advancement, and greater job satisfaction. Additionally, 16% of respondents are actively looking for jobs on behalf of others.

WorkIndia’s Co-founder and CEO, Nilesh Dungarwal, said, “This report sheds light on the evolving motivations of blue-collar workers in India. As we continue to support their job search journeys, we are committed to providing resources and opportunities that align with their aspirations for better compensation, career growth, and a fulfilling work environment.”
