iPhone Not Showing Notifications After iOS 18 Update? Here Are 10 Fixes

iOS 18 Update

Apple’s iOS 18 update has been one of the most significant software updates to iPhones in recent years. However, many users have reported that they aren’t receiving notifications from their favorite apps. If you’re experiencing this issue, here are 10 quick fixes you can try to resolve it.

1. Toggle App Notifications

If notifications are not appearing from certain apps, it’s possible that notifications are turned off. Go to Settings > Notifications, find the app, and ensure Allow Notifications is toggled on. If it’s already on, try turning it off and on again.

2. Check In-App Notification Settings

Some apps have their own notification settings. For example, WhatsApp allows you to customize notifications. Open the app settings and navigate to the Notifications section to make sure everything is set correctly.

3. Enable Notification Center on Lock Screen

If you’re seeing notifications on the home screen but not the lock screen, you might have disabled Notification Center. Go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode, and enable Notification Center under “Allow Access When Locked.”

4. Turn Off Focus Mode

Focus Mode can mute notifications even when you’re not actively using it. To check if it’s affecting notifications, open Control Center, tap and hold Focus, and disable it. If Focus Mode keeps turning on automatically, go to Settings > Focus, select the active Focus Mode, and disable Smart Activation or Custom Schedule.

5. Disable Focus Mode Sharing Across Devices

If you use multiple Apple devices, Focus Mode might be enabled on all of them. To turn off Focus Mode across devices, go to Settings > Focus and disable Share Across Devices.

6. Disable Notification Summary

iOS 18 introduced Notification Summary, a feature that groups notifications together. If Scheduled Summary is enabled, it could be silencing notifications. To disable it, go to Settings > Notifications > Scheduled Summary and turn off the toggle.

7. Allow Apps to Refresh in the Background

Some apps might not refresh in the background, preventing notifications. To enable this, go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh, select Wi-Fi & Cellular Data, and enable it for the apps you want to refresh in the background.

8. Turn Off Low Power and Low Data Mode

Low Power Mode and Low Data Mode can stop apps from refreshing in the background. To disable Low Power Mode, go to Settings > Battery and toggle it off. To turn off Low Data Mode, go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Data Mode, and set it to Standard.

9. Restart Your iPhone

If none of the above solutions work, try restarting your iPhone. A quick restart can help resolve temporary glitches and bugs. Hold the volume up or volume down button along with the power button until the slider appears, then drag it to turn off. Wait a few seconds, then turn your iPhone back on.

10. Update to the Latest iOS Version

Sometimes, missing notifications are due to software bugs in the current iOS version. Check if there’s a newer update available by going to Settings > General > Software Update. If you’re on the latest version, you may need to reset your iPhone or wait for a future update that fixes the issue.
