Former One Direction star Liam Payne was found dead outside a hotel in Buenos Aires on Wednesday after falling from his third-floor room balcony. The 31-year-old singer, known for hits like For You, was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and drugs at the time, according to Argentine police.
The incident occurred in the capital’s Palermo neighborhood. Hotel staff reported hearing a loud noise, and upon arrival, police discovered Payne’s body in the hotel’s interior patio. Emergency workers confirmed his death shortly after.
American singer Charlie Puth expressed his shock on Instagram, calling Payne “so kind” and one of the first major artists he had worked with. Music channels MTV, streaming service Spotify, and the BRIT Awards all shared condolences on social media.
