Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the Indian diaspora at the ‘Hala Modi’ event in Kuwait, expressed joy at witnessing the vibrant diversity of Indians in the Gulf nation, calling it a “mini-Hindustan.”
“Just 2–2.5 hours ago, I arrived in Kuwait, and ever since, I’ve felt an extraordinary sense of belonging and warmth. Seeing all of you here feels like a mini India has gathered before me,” said PM Modi at the Shaikh Saad Al Abdullah Indoor Sports Complex.
He highlighted the historic and emotional ties between India and Kuwait, noting that their relationship extends beyond diplomacy to shared bonds of the heart. “India and Kuwait are connected not just by the Arabian Sea but by civilisations, trade, and affection,” he remarked.
PM Modi praised the Indian diaspora’s contributions to Kuwait’s society and economy. “Indian doctors and paramedics are a vital part of Kuwait’s medical infrastructure. Indian teachers are shaping the next generation here. Kuwait’s leadership always appreciates the Indian community’s positive influence,” he shared.
In his speech, the Prime Minister also emphasized the synergies between India’s strengths and Kuwait’s aspirations. “Kuwait wants to become a dynamic economy through trade and innovation. India offers the skill, technology, and manpower needed for New Kuwait’s growth,” he added.
The visit was particularly special, as PM Modi pointed out, “After more than 40 years, an Indian Prime Minister has come to Kuwait. For you, India is four hours away, but for me, it took four decades.”
During his visit, PM Modi met Abdulla Al Baroun and Abdul Lateef Al Nesef, who translated the Ramayana and Mahabharata into Arabic, as well as 101-year-old retired IFS officer Mangal Sain Handa. He is also set to meet Kuwait’s Emir, Crown Prince, and Prime Minister and attend the opening ceremony of the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup.
