Riddhima Kapoor recently shared a personal experience from her family’s difficult time when Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with cancer in 2018. The actor had to leave for treatment in New York with wife Neetu Kapoor and son Ranbir Kapoor. Just a day after their departure, Riddhima’s grandmother, Krishna Raj Kapoor, passed away in Mumbai at the age of 87.
Riddhima spoke about how Alia Bhatt, who was dating Ranbir at the time, played a crucial role in supporting the family during this challenging period. She recalled how, despite her own personal loss, Alia stepped in and took charge of the necessary arrangements. “I still remember, my dadi passed away… My dad left for treatment, and the very next morning, my dadi passed away and Alia did everything. She came with me, organised the food, because at that time, you can’t cook at home, so she did that,” Riddhima said. “She was there for me. Ranbir, mom, and papa had left for New York, so it was just me. She was with me throughout.”
Alia’s selfless support during that time stood out to Riddhima, who praised the actress for her kindness and generosity. “Alia is an amazing person. She’s great with my mom too now. She’s just amazing, her whole family, her mom, sister, and dad, they are all really nice,” she added. “Alia is a very warm and giving person. I always say this, she’s a really nice human being. She does everything wholeheartedly, and if she wants to do something for you, she will go all out and make sure it’s done.”
Since then, Alia and Ranbir’s relationship has blossomed, with the couple marrying in April 2022 and welcoming their daughter, Raha. Riddhima, who was recently seen in Netflix’s Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, spoke fondly of Alia’s role not only as a partner to her brother Ranbir but as a loving and supportive member of the Kapoor family.
